The Artist's Way At Work
POSTED ON:12.15.06 @ 02:33 PM    BY: Rick Watson
When Julie Cameron first wrote The Artist's Way, she envisioned "creative clusters" - "where people would serve one another as believing mirrors, uniting with the common aim of creative unblocking."

Starting Wednesday, January 17th, I will be starting a creative cluster to work through the The Artist's Way at Work. We will meet weekly for twelve weeks. Everyone, including the facilitator, will answering the questions and then share the answers as we work through the book. Cost is $120.00 (books and materials will be supplied). Please contact me with any questions.

You can read more about what we will be doing at http://www.theartistsway.com/pdfs/basictools.pdf.

On January 7th, I was interviewed by Laura Young about making and keeping New Year's resolutions. Laura works as a producer at Metroscope, a public affairs radio show produced here in Portland. They are played on stations such as 94.7FM, 97.1 Charlie FM, 92.3 KGON, 105.1 The Buzz, 99.5 The Wolf, KISN 910AM and 1080 The Fan. I am very grateful to Laura for the wonderful job she did it creating and editing the show.

You can listen to a short version of the show here or the full show at Metroscopepdx.com.
Sometimes A Loss Can Be A Gain
POSTED ON:10.26.05 @ 11:37 AM    BY: From DailyOM
Below is an excerpt from an e-mail that I receive daily from DailyOM. It speaks to those of us who are searching for balance in our lives. More importantly, it implicitly talks about having a sense of timing; calming ourselves when we experience emptiness, allowing what is natural to come in to fill this space. Read on...

When we lose anything that we cherish, the sense of emptiness we are left behind with can be overwhelming. A space that was filled, whether in our lives or our hearts, is now a void, and the feelings of pain, loss, and separation can sometimes be difficult to bear. While it is always important to honor what we've lost, sometimes a loss can also represent a chance for a new beginning. When we are ready, the void left by a relationship, a job, or a dream can then be viewed as open space that can be filled with something new: new experiences, new knowledge, new job opportunities, new dreams, new people, and new ways to grow.

...If you've lost a job or ended a relationship, your first thoughts may revolve around filling the void with a similar job or the same kind of relationship. Try not to rush into anything just to fill up the emptiness. The loss of a job can free you up to explore new opportunities, especially if you've outgrown the old one. Likewise, the loss of a relationship can give you a chance to rediscover your own interests, explore new passions, and meet different people.
